The Rainbow...

The Rainbow...

cid:image004.jpg@01C817D6.74912A90

Rainbows appear after mighty storms,
When things look their very worst,

Just when the skies are darkest gray,
Look for the rainbow first.
The rainbow is a sign of God's promise,
That He will guide us through any storm,
That He will see us through all our troubles,
No matter what their form.
When you feel battered by life's storms,
And you are filled with doubt and dismay;
Just remember God's rainbow is coming -
It's only a prayer away.

You Are Valuable..

tulipcard_vsc.jpg picture by 21arti You are valuable. Others may not treat you as such, but that in no way diminishes the fact that you are truly and undeniably valuable. You are valuable, and nothing that anyone else can do or say will ever take that value away. The value of your life is yours to hide from or to ignore if you choose, or to live with magnificent fulfillment.
Your thoughts and opinions are valuable. The more they are challenged, tested and refined, the more valuable they become. Your interests, passions and experiences are valuable. Even your disappointments and limitations have much positive value because of the learning and perspective they provide.

You are valuable, and it is your unique challenge in every moment to fulfill that value. Though it is much easier to pretend that you have no value, what is easiest is not what is best.

For ultimately, life is considerably more rich and more rewarding, more filled with joy and real meaning, when you live true to the value that is you. Know that you are indeed valuable, and let that value shine.

BE SOMEONE

Learning to Wait

noname1-1.gif picture by arti22

Learning to Wait

--The Courage to Change by Dennis Wholey

I've started to realize that waiting is an art, that waiting achieves things. Waiting can be very, very powerful. Time is a valuable thing. If you can wait two years, you can sometimes achieve something that you could not achieve today, however hard you worked, however much money you threw up in the air, however many times you banged your head against the wall. . .
--The Courage to Change by Dennis Wholey

The people who are most successful at living and loving are those who can learn to wait successfully. Not many people enjoy waiting or learning patience. Yet, waiting can be a powerful tool that will help us accomplish much good.

We cannot always have what we want when we want it. For different reasons, what we want to do, have, be, or accomplish is not available to us now. But there are things we could not do or have today, no matter what, that we can have in the future. Today, we would make ourselves crazy trying to accomplish what will come naturally and with ease later.

We can trust that all is on schedule. Waiting time is not wasted time. Something is being worked out - in us, in someone else, in the Universe.

We don't have to put our life on hold while we wait. We can direct our attention elsewhere; we can practice acceptance and gratitude in the interim; we can trust that we do have a life to live while we are waiting - then we go about living it.

Deal with your frustration and impatience, but learn how to wait. The old saying, "You can't always get what you want" isn't entirely true. Often, in life, we can get what we want - especially the desires of our heart - if we can learn to wait.

Today, I am willing to learn the art of patience. If I am feeling powerless because I am waiting for something to happen and I am not in control of timing, I will focus on the power available to me by learning to wait.

You are reading from the book The Language of Letting Go.

THe 7 C's of Happiness

ATT1.jpg picture by arti810

The 7 C's of Happiness

What are the critical ingredients for experiencing genuine
happiness? Here are seven elements of life that I believe are
essential to the attainment of human happiness. I call them the "7 C's in the pursuit of happiness." One is not more important than any of the others.

Compassion
In order to evolve into a state of happiness, you must develop your in-born ability to care about life, to value life in all its forms, to engage in loving, kind actions, to cultivate an attitude of what Nobel laureate, Dr. Albert Schweitzer called "reverence for life," (including your own).

Contentment
Inner calm. Peace of mind and heart does not mean acceptance of everything that happens. It does mean letting go of fear. When you live life fearlessly, you experience a kind of peace that permeates every cell of your body, every thought of your mind, every emotion of your heart, every element of your spirit.

Connection
Without effectively connecting to other humans, you become less than human yourself. Connection means involving yourself in relationship to everyone around you, connecting to your own inner life, and becoming aware of the environment in which you live. Learn to create high-quality relationships, and your happiness is almost guaranteed.

Communication
Communication is our primary method for
connection. It increases your knowledge, your understanding, and your awareness. Language is precious. Words are the building blocks of all happiness.

Commitment
Oprah Winfrey says that what motivates her to get up in the morning is "my commitment to my life and fulfilling my life purpose." If one of your life's purposes is to enhance your happiness, committing your life to the service of others brings more happiness than you can imagine. Happiness requires you commit yourself to something larger than yourself.

Consciousness
Most spiritual teachers believe we are living in a sleep-like or dream state. In order to be happy, one must increase one's awareness of life. And the single awareness that is most conducive to happiness is: the impermanence of everything. Life is in a constant state of flux, of change, of rhythm and of evolution.

Creativity
Creating your life experience by consciously
choosing your thoughts, your actions, your decisions and your
attitudes will allow you to attain personal happiness regardless of external circumstances.

The pursuit of happiness is not something you search for or attain from outside your skin. Happiness develops from within. You were born to be happy. You were given life to experience happiness. Pursuing it is your right. Sail the 7 C's of happiness and the pursuit of it becomes obvious and being alive becomes the happiest of moments.

Bookends of Life

Hummingbird-vi.gif picture by arti810
Bookends of Life

In life, we have two bookends
A beginning and an end
The things amid have filled the gaps
Whereby, our lives do blend.

The volumes which are written
Reveals the light of men
The print upon the pages
Contain the breath within.

The chapters stack so neatly
Are bounded at the seams
And filled with aspirations
Our failures and our dreams.

The many happy chapters
Hold sorrow in between
The valleys and the mountains
Are parts of life's great scheme.

The fiber of our being
Is glue that makes it stick
The text that fills the pages
Are choices we did pick.

It takes a set of book ends
To make one's life complete
The content comes together
When both the ends do meet.

One day upon completion
Our lives will be made whole
When Jesus reads our memoir
The mirror to our soul.

We cannot change the content
Once written, nevermore
It's stored amongst God's archives
Upon that golden shore.

Some Points to Ponder...

haveagreatdaypinkheart4.gif picture by arti810

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events,
have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't
arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Why are people so afraid? The answer is that they have made
themselves helpless and dependent on others.
We are so lazy, we do not want to do anything ourselves.
We want a Personal God, a Savior or a Prophet to do everything for

I LOVE this message

youbrightenmyday.gif picture by arti810

~~I LOVE this message
it's a GREAT reminder to ALL of us!~~

Great Happiness

Not long ago I answered a telephone call
from an old friend I'd not heard from for a long time.
'Hi,' he said.
'I just wanted to see how you're getting along.'
For whatever reason,
our paths had simply not crossed for a long, long, time.
It was good to talk with him.
I wondered why we hadn't kept in touch better.
Toward the end of the conversation, he said,
'If you need me in any way,
I'll be happy to help out.' And he meant it!
That call came at just the right time, as they so often do.
I needed those words of encouragement.
I hung up the phone feeling
a satisfying lump of warmth in my chest.
And that day I re-learned something important about life:
life is primarily about people,
not plans and schedules,
not to-do lists and a million tasks left undone -
it's about PEOPLE!!
To love and to know that we are loved
is the greatest happiness of existence.
And happiness seems to be something
that is in short supply for too many of us!
My friend reminded me that it is never enough
just to love; we must also express it.
What good are our affectionate feelings
toward others if we don't find ways to let them know?
George William Childs put it like this:
'Do not keep the alabaster box of your love
and friendship sealed up until
your friends are dead.
Fill their lives with sweetness.
Speak approving, cheering words
while their ears can hear them and
while their hearts can be thrilled and made happier.
The kind things you mean to say
when they are gone, say before they go.'
Happiness . . .
may be just a phone call
or email away!!

Winning Arguements

DsDesignsFlowerRain.gif picture by arti810

When you win an argument, if indeed such a thing is possible, what have you really won? When you're able to prove that you are right and the other person is wrong, what value have you created?

Proving to someone else that you are right does nothing to help you or to help the other person. Mainly what it does is inject tension into the relationship.

When you can let go of your attachment to being right, you become free to follow more productive, value creating pursuits. Just imagine how much more free you will be when you are no longer distracted by the need to prove that you're right.

Certainly it is great to have the admiration and respect of others. And the surest way to gain that is to stop worrying about having to prove that you're right.

Put your energy and creativity into cooperation and understanding rather than into winning arguments. That's what will truly create the most lasting value for everyone involved.

The Ant...

beautifulsmileforafriend.jpg picture by arti810

The Ant

One morning I wasted nearly an hour watching a tiny ant carry a huge feather cross my back terrace. Several times it was confronted by obstacles in its path and after a momentary pause it would make the necessary detour. At one point the ant had to negotiate a crack in the concrete about 10mm wide. After brief contemplation the ant laid the feather over the crack, walked across it and picked up the feather on the other side then continued on its way.

I was fascinated by the ingenuity of this ant, one of God's smallest creatures. It served to reinforce the miracle of creation. Here was a minute insect, lacking in size yet equipped with a brain to reason, explore, discover and overcome. But this ant, like the two-legged co-residents of this planet, also share human failings.

After some time the ant finally reached its destination - a flower bed at the end of the terrace and a small hole that was the entrance to its underground home. And it was here that the ant finally met its match. How could that large feather possibly fit down small hole Of course it couldn't. so the ant, after all this trouble and execrising great ingenuity, overcoming problems all along the way, just abandoned the feather and went home. The ant had not thought the problem through before it began its epic journey and in the end the feather was nothing more than a burden.

Isn't life like that! We worry about our family, we worry about money or the lack of it, we worry about work, about where we live, about all sorts of things. These are all burdens - the things we pick up along life's path and lug them around the obstacles and over the crevasses that life will bring, only to find that at the destination they are useless and we can't take them with us..

Keep The Faith

dearheavenlyfather.gif picture by arti810

Keep The Faith
Close to quitting?
Please don't ....
Discouraged as a parent?
Hang in there....
Weary with doing good?
Do just a little more....
Pessimistic about your job?
Roll up your sleeves and go at it again.
No communication in your marriage?
Give it one more shot.
Relationships getting shaky?
Try harder to be kind.

Remember, a finisher is not one
with no wounds or weariness.
Quite to the contrary, he, like the boxer,
is scarred and bloody.

Mother Teresa is credited with saying,
"God didn't call us to be
successful, just faithful."

The Land of Promise, says GOD,
awaits those who endure...
those who simply remain to the end.

Get Up

GET UP

They, that unnamed ''they,'' they've knocked me down but I got up.

I always get up -- and I swear when I went down quite often I took

the fall; nothing moves a mountain but itself.

They, I've long ago named them me.

...Gregory Corso 1930-, American Author

Would you kick an opponent when he was down?

Yes, if I thought he might get up.

...Edmund Rouse

When life knocks you down, try to land on your back.

Because if you can look up, you can get up.

Let your reason get you back up.

Thought...

alittlegirlrredbootsweesa211.gif picture by arti810

As it Comes

Enjoy life as it comes, in the precious moments of each day.

Live your success and fulfillment here and now, not in some distant, imagined future.

Do not set yourself up as a hostage to your circumstances or your inventory of possessions.

Choose right now to live richly and fully no matter what.

Make joyful and thankful use of whatever you have, wherever you are.

There is so very much you have going for you.

Pay no attention to those who scream that you must have this thing or that experience in order to be happy.

Ignore them, and simply choose to be happy by creating your own interpretation of happiness all around you.

Keep in mind that most of the people who tell you how bad things are, seek to gain their own power or profit from your dismay. Life is good, life is rich, life is joyful and fulfilling to the extent you choose to make it so.

Open your eyes, look around, and see how truly beautiful your world can be.

Real success is yours the moment you begin to make it.

-Ralph Marston

THE STORY OF PEARLS

pearl_in_oyster.jpg picture by arti810

THE STORY OF PEARLS

Pearls are a product of pain. When a grain of sand pierces the shell of an oyster, all the otherwise dormant resources within the tiny oyster respond to the foreign irritant by caring for that sensitive spot. Over time, the sand particle is covered by healing fluids, and the wound becomes a pearl.

That's true for you, too. When hardships invade your life, allow God to shape your response. Don't be bitter. Don't rush ahead of His plan. Rest in Him. Allow Him time to turn that irritation into an opportunity for your growth - and watch a beautiful pearl emerge from your set of circumstances.

"My dear friends, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." –

"When you flee temptation, be sure you don't leave a forwarding address."

Who sets the standards you live by?

1377-1.gif picture by arti810

Who sets the standards you live by?

"If I get to pick what I want to do, then it's play...
if someone else tells me that I have to do it, then it's work."
-- Patricia Nourot

Are you continually struggling to accomplish what is expected of
you? If so, stop to think for a moment:
who holds those expectations?

Perhaps you're trying to meet the expectations of a parent or
a teacher or other authority figures who may be long gone from
your life. But many of us toil under the critical eyes of a vague
`somebody' who always judges that we've never done enough or
done things well enough. Who is this phantom judge?
And do we need to care about what they think any longer?

We find both our own power and happiness when we begin to
set our own standards around what has heart and meaning for us.

"Doubt yourself and you doubt everything you see.
Judge yourself and you see judges everywhere.
But if you listen to the sound of your own voice,
you can rise above doubt and judgment. And you can see forever."
-- Nancy Kerrigan
