The Shakti of Children

The Shakti of Children by Sondra Ray

excerpted from The Divine Mother with the publisher's permission

Children are connected to the source of everything, and this is precisely why children are so wonderfully awesome. Unfortunately, as we grow up, so many things make us shut down: birth trauma, suppression in school and church, etc. Those children who have less birth trauma are able to remain more connected to the Divine. This is our constant experience as rebirthers.

All great teachers repeatedly say that adults should listen to the children. Children are able to channel from the divine very easily. They will often have the highest thoughts of family members for this reason - if only the family would listen. Children, however, will also act out the unconscious minds of the parents. This drives parents nuts because they do not want to see their own shadows. But the truth is this: children are the gurus in the family. That means they will teach the adults what they are suppressing, and at the same time, they will channel high thoughts from the Divine. In families where this is understood, there is a totally different energy. Think the opposite of suppression. It is exciting!

However, some parents cannot stand that much excitement because they were not allowed to have that much fun when they were kids. So they try to stop the aliveness and fun in their own children. What a pity. People deny themselves excitement by suppressing the children. Of course it is quite confrontational to realize that your child is acting out your subconscious mind.

The founder of Rebirthing, Leonard Orr, taught me the following: Love takes upon itself your negatives so you can see them more clearly. So children, out of love, are showing you what might hurt you from your own mind. This profound statement is something that everyone in a family should understand.

In families, everyone is always acting out each other's case (suppressed material limitations, negativity, ego, patterns, birth traumas, death urges, past lives, etc.) If family members do not have a clue that this is going on, things can be extremely difficult. You want to get out, escape, rebel, and often things get so bad that the family unit breaks down or breaks up. In the end, some people go to the grave hating their parents. What a tragedy! If you knew that you chose your parents and you have karmic lessons to learn from each one, you might see it all differently. For example: What was your purpose for choosing that mother? That father?

In the Vedas, they say your mother is your first guru. Motherly love is perhaps one of the highest forms of love. A good mother can make all the difference in the world. I can now see the saintly aspect of my own mother. I had the good fortune of meeting the mother of Muniraj, one of my gurus, in India. His mother was astonishingly holy, so much so that I find myself bowing to my computer in her honor as I think of her right now.

I once did a seminar for children in Valencia, Spain. Sixteen children came, and they ranged in age from two to ten years old. I placed them in a circle with their parents in the room. I began by asking each one what they like about life. Mostly they commented about animals and nature. Then I asked them if there was anything they did not like about their home. They thought I meant about the physical space so they all said that was okay. But when I changed the wording and asked them if there was anything they did not like about their family, they really spoke up!

They said they did not like the wars going on in their families. They did not like the fights. They wanted peace. They also said they wanted their parents to know that they were love! I was really stunned. They had so much energy that I had them perform. One girl got up and sang a song. She was only five. That was the only thing that made them quiet. They all became quiet and showed her so much appreciation. They seemed to know she was in her higher self. Even the little tots were quiet. Amazing.

The energy got so high that I had to go lie down and breathe after all this. Can you handle the shakti of your own child? If you allow it in, you will be healed. Miracles can occur. But you might have to breathe a lot. Maybe one or more of your children has tremendous light. Don't suppress the light - this has been called the Herod factor. Be prepared to let your children become masters. The children coming in now are very high beings. They have come to repair us and teach us joy. Overdisciplining, dominating, and controlling them does not make sense.

Allowing them to be who they are and setting a good example gives them breathing room. That does not mean that they take over either. You are their guides, giving them framework. Pray for the right balance.
